The Grid with the same blocks is easy to understand and very functional.
The traffic is working really well, because of the one-way and the big streets between the blocks.
The negative part is hided in the blocks. ( manzanas) Today, the people are using every m2 for crating flats. There is no light anymore.
That was actually not the idea from the architect, but there is no other possibility with the high population in Barcelona
Vienna:
Vienna is different at all! It is an old ring city! Vienna has 21 districts. Till 1892 there was just the first district, the main city and around Vienna ( 1.district) were a lot of mall villages.
Since that year they were connect together in to one city.
So there was no possibility to create a new city part like example.
